MELIAH RAGE Film Video On Set Of Horror Film
February 12, 2004Heavy metal and horror films are a perfect match, and MELIAH RAGE have proven it by filming a new music video on the set of a vampire movie.
The Boston-based MELIAH RAGE — vocalist Paul Souza, guitarist Anthony Nichols, guitarist Jim Koury, bass guitarist Jesse Johnson and drummer Barry Spillberg — filmed a video for the title track of the Screaming Ferret Wreckords album "Barely Human", on the set of the Conquest Pictures film "God of Vampires" in Haverhill, MA.
"God of Vampires" director Rob Fitz also directed the "Barely Human" video.
The imagery and atmosphere of both the video and the film are identical, and the same main set was used for both. The undead bloodsuckers from the movie appear in the video, and actual scenes from the movie appear in the video. "Barely Human" will be included on the "God of Vampires" soundtrack.
"The set was impressive! Very dark and evil. In the past the videos we did were done in movie studios. This was like walking into a real haunted house! Very cool!" says Nichols. "Working with Rob was great. He had everything mapped out. He knew exactly what he wanted and what he wanted us to do. We were very comfortable with everything he did and had planned. No need to question anything."
The plot of "God of Vampires" has a clever twist in that it's about Chinese vampires and the Asian mob. And it's an action film too. A vampire-oriented horror picture injected with Hong Kong-style action is guaranteed to generate chills and excitement.
Fitz has spent 3 1/2 years working on "God of Vampires". Within the film industry he is known primarily as a makeup artist, and he's worked on "Meet Joe Black", "The Perfect Storm" and "Mona Lisa Smile". Appropriately enough for a filmmaker making his feature-length directorial debut with a vampire movie, Fitz "cut his teeth" on shorts shown at Tromadance and the Brussels Festival of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Thriller Films.
The "Barely Human" video is slated for rotation on MTV2. Production on "God of Vampires" is scheduled for completion this spring, and its release date has not yet been determined.
